Hello all, I’m catching up. It’s been awhile, but I have great news. I’ll get to that in a moment.
When I started The Virgin Traveler, it was to find myself. I had dreams of traveling from the time I was little. I wanted to see it all. I wanted to live in an RV and travel the United States. I can’t believe how lucky I’ve been. I’ve done so much in such a short period of time. I’ve been back to California, been to Vegas, Arizona, and to my first Green Bay Packers game. I always wanted to go to the I Love Lucy ComedyFest — DONE. I have crossed off many of the things that were on my initial bucket list. That game was number 3 on my bucket list. DONE. Going to a Garth Brooks concert was #2 — DONE. Italy is #1.
To others who have traveled the world, this may seem insignificant. To me, it’s amazing. This year, I have already planned a few trips — we are heading to Tennessee, taking a road trip up the Northeast and, maybe, depending on scheduling, heading back out west.
I hit a few bumps in the road — my honey had hip surgery and before the surgery was sidelined with significant pain for about 2 months. Then it took him about two months after the operation until he was back on track again. He was even sidelined with a broken hand too! Then, my mom had a pacemaker put in and, because she lives with me, I am her help. Now that it seems like I’m done being caretaker for a little while, we’re working on our plans. I’m excited.
Throughout the travel town and even more so during my ‘downtime’ I realized something about myself. My life is film/TV. When I travel I want to see anything and everything related to film and television. Statues, museums, tours, anything. I’ve wanted a life in film/television. I’ve interviewed more celebrities than I can count and even written two biographies on celebrities. I’ve attended film festivals and reviewed films. When I started writing for Travel Pulse, I asked to write about film/television topics, so there’s that too. It’s my favorite part of my work. I don’t want it to stop. This is my travel focus — film/television. I also love books and that’s a focus too, but this film stuff — I live and breathe for it.
That leads me to my good news. In February, 2018, my book, “The Film & TV Lover’s Travel Guide,” will be published by Globe Pequot Press. I’m soooo excited! I’ve been working really hard on it, in between playing nurse maid LOL, and it’s due in a couple months. I think you’re really going to like it. I hope you do!
I’m also going to bring you more film/TV and literary travel information on this website. It doesn’t mean that I won’t talk about history or other things that I’m doing. It just means that I found what I love talking about and I plan on making that my primary focus. When I travel with my honey, we’ll do some sports stuff together too. I have a few other surprises up my sleeve for this year, so I’m glad that I have a bit of time to write again and I’ll be updating the site even more frequently.
Thanks to everyone who’s asked how I am and what’s new. Tell me about your travels this year too!
