Hello! My name is Lisa Iannucci, and I’m the founder of The Virgin Traveler. Interesting name, right? I receive a lot of comments about it, but no, it’s not that. LOL
I wanted to travel ever since I was little. Unfortunately, I only traveled to a few places before I lost my husband, Jeff, to cancer, when our kids were young. Life shoved me in a different direction, and I had children to raise and a career to think about. Although we did travel a bit and have some great memories, it wasn’t quite the volume of travel I wanted. When our children became adults and flew the coop, it was time to get back to my dreams. When I did, I said to a friend in passing, “It’s like I’m doing this for the first time. I feel like a ‘virgin’ traveler.” And the name was born.
The concept is simple — maybe life got in your way, too, and you’re just getting started taking trips. Welcome! No matter how big or small the trips are, all you have to do is start! Even a day trip to someplace local that you’ve never been to is a great place to feed that wanderlust in you.
As for me, I am an award-winning writer and author. My articles (on all subjects) have appeared in such consumer publications as Weight Watchers, Muscle & Fitness, Shape, EPregnancy, SkyGuide Go (American Express), American Health, USA Weekend, Parenting, New York Magazine, and more. I have been a regular contributor to Business Travel News, TravelPulse.com, The Poughkeepsie Journal, ContentThatWorks.com, SyFy Wire, Real Clear Life, FF2Media, Netflix Life, and many more websites and publications.
I have also written, ghostwritten, co-written, and contributed to more than 35 books and counting. They cover a wide range of topics, including health, business, real estate, and memoirs. My travel books include:
- Road Trip: The Sports Lover’s Travel Guide to Museums, Halls of Fame, Fantasy Camps, Stadium Tours, and More! (Lyons Press, 2020)
- On Location: A Film and TV Lover’s Travel Guide (Globe Pequot, 2018)
- Co-author, Healthy Travel: Don’t Travel Without It! with Michael P. Zimring (Basic Health Publications, 2005)
I have been a speaker on numerous panels at various writing conferences. I have also taught freelance writing at community colleges and libraries throughout New York, where I currently reside.
Since I started The Virgin Traveler, I have taken a cross-country road trip and enjoyed my birthday in Italy and Paris! I’ve been checking off my bucket list dreams because I’m turning my someday into today. How about you?
