5 RV Travel YouTube Channels You Should Follow

Still sitting at home, dreaming of RV travel? Why not use your spare time wisely and watch RV Travel YouTube channels, so when you can travel again, you’re ready! Maybe the current travel restrictions have you at home. Maybe you have financial or health restrictions or, for some other reason, you’re just not at a point in your life where you can travel yet. That’s okay.

I started watching RV YouTubers about two years ago when I knew I was getting closer to selling my home and buying an RV. I wanted to know more about the ins and outs of RV travel, including ownership and the RV lifestyle. I’ve always dreamed about RV travel, but I needed to know if it was really for me. Every day, I watched a few RV travel videos that taught me what expenses — both expected and unexpected — that I needed to know about and what travel memberships I should have. A lot of what you learn is based on experiences but also on personal opinions. For example, one RV YouTuber might love their Thousand Trails or Harvest Hosts membership, while another may bash either one and recommend something else. So you need to listen and learn, take notes, and then decide what’s best for you.

These five RV travel YouTubers are just some of my faves. Yes, I have more and no, I don’t spend all day on YouTube. Some of their videos I bypass because maybe the topic doesn’t interest me. Some I watch for RV advice (nope, I don’t own one yet) while others I watch because they turn their trips into these beautiful videos that inspire me to travel. Here are five RV travel YouTubers you can start watching today. Click on their names for a direct link to their YouTube page. If you like them, subscribe to their channel so you get notifications when they upload new videos:

  1. RVLifestyle: I found husband and wife RV YouTubers Mike and Jennifer’s podcast before I found their RV travel YouTube channel and the podcast hooked me right away. Mike and Jennifer are former journalists who now travel the country with their adorable dog, Bo, and report on RV industry news, give tips on RV ownership and show us what they’ve seen in their travels. They don’t hold back. If they don’t like something, they tell you. If they love something, they tell you. They also have (as I said) a podcast and a tremendously informative website.
  2. Trent & Allie: This (newly) married couple has been traveling the globe in their RV for years. I found them only this year, at the start of the lockdown, when their video about being stranded in another country and having to leave their RV to come home made it to the front of my YouTube recommendations. Now, since they aren’t traveling, their videos are focused on remodeling their new RV and building their tiny house, while living with Trent’s mom during the lockdown. Why do I watch them? They are just a sweet young couple that creates really beautiful videos of their travels. They even made building a farm on Trent’s mom’s property fun to watch.
  3. RVLove: Before I found Mark and Julie Bennett’s YouTube channel, I found their book, “Living the RV Life – Your Ultimate Guide to Life on the Road” and absolutely devoured it. I picture myself in the pages living the lifestyle they live. They sold their Colorado home, bought an RV and have traveled to all 50 USA states while working full-time. If you sat in a classroom about RVs and wanted someone teaching it, you’d want them. They actually have courses too and, no, I’m not getting a kickback. They are a great place to start when it comes to learning about RVs.
  4. Story Chasing: I’m putting this first that what I like about Amber is her realism. She’s a female solo traveler who has suffered from anxiety and talks about that. The reason why I like that is that everyone makes the lifestyle look so glamorous that they forget to talk about real issues and real problems. She’s also talked about intruders and what she’s done wrong, but she talks about the fun stuff too. According to her bio, in 2017, Amber sold everything and purchased an RV to live out a dream of creating moments and stories of intentional, minimalistic living, while exploring North America before the typical retirement age. She’s real, but fun to watch too, especially since many of us aspire to do what she’s done.
  5. You, Me & the RV: Another married RV traveling couple, Phil and Stacy are really good at taking RV information and translating it into something that’s easy to understand. One of my favorite videos from them was when Stacy taught viewers how to use Google Maps to create custom travel maps. You can find that one here. You’ll enjoy them too.
